Custom applicators are rarely not found seated in the cab of their applicator. It’s their home away from home, especially during the busy application season. And perhaps no piece of equipment is more associated with these dedicated operators than the self-propelled sprayer. Often called the “workhorses of the ag retail world”, sprayers help applicators deliver the best possible experience for their grower-customers — time and time again.

Miller-St. Nazianz Miller’s Nitro 7000 Series front boom sprayers are built to exceed the demanding requirements of today’s commercial applicators and growers, says the company. They feature very quiet sprayer-built cabs, up to 78 inches of crop clearance, and exceptional visibility. Technology is also at the top of the list with AutoFold Booms, IntelliHeight XRT boom height control, IntelliSpray nozzle control, and telematics. Units feature boom sizes up to 135 feet and tanks sizes up to 1,600 gallons.

AGCO Corp.  The Fendt Rogator 900 Series is an innovative self-propelled, rear-mounted boom applicator with adjustable clearance (from 56-inches to 76-inches) that can be converted between liquid and dry systems within 2 hours. The Rogator’s ability to apply any type of crop care application throughout the entire growing season provides a superior investment and greater control over product application. Such flexibility helps ensure better product use for higher yields and an overall better return on their crop care investment. The standard LiquidLogic system primes the boom in seconds and the AirMax Precision R1/R2 pneumatic boom system with TurnLogic ensures even coverage of dry materials even during cornering for tremendous time and money savings and improved soil and plant health. The Rogator 900 provides the industry’s most innovative technology, unparalleled operator experience, and Fendt’s Gold Star Customer Care protection. Winner of the 2022 Davidson Prize and AE50 Award for engineering excellence.

Hagie Manufacturing The Hagie STS20 sprayer is the largest, highest capacity machine in the STS lineup, with the ability to perform all full-season application needs. The STS20 has a 2,000-gallon solution capacity and features 74 inches of clearance, a 400-horsepower John Deere engine, an application-specific cab and boom widths ranging from 90 to 132 feet. Hagie sprayers provide an optimal front-to-rear weight split, tight turning radius, narrow crop package and expanded capabilities for fertilizer applications. The STS20 incorporates the latest John Deere precision ag and spraying technology that includes an integrated StarFire 7000 receiver, JDLInk connection, a Gen 4, 4600 Universal Display and ExactApply.

Case IH The Patriot 50 Series sprayer is designed to help producers and ag retailers work more productively, says the company. Operators will appreciate the cab environment and an innovative four-bar linkage chassis suspension system that delivers superior ride quality. Booms are available in width options from 60/90 to 69/135 feet — plus, each model can be equipped with optional AIM Command FLEX II advanced spray technology. With individual nozzle on/off control, AIM Command FLEX II helps ensure application accuracy and efficiency.

New Holland Guardian front boom sprayers are designed for full-season application and operator comfort for optimum production capabilities. Features include crop clearance up to 78 inches, AutoFold booms, IntelliHeight XRT boom height control, IntelliSpray nozzle control system, IntelliSteer at headlands, data management systems, and AutoRinse. Ultraquiet sprayer-specific cabs and very smooth ride all add up to making the long days easier and feel a little shorter, says the company.

RBR Enterprise Performance was our starting line, according to the company. The all-new Vortex 390 sprayer has been engineered with productivity and longevity in mind. With the highest capacity of any row crop sprayer on the market, proven ruggedness of our RBR chassis, and the latest in sprayer technology, the Vortex offers professional applicators one of the most efficient sprayers on the market. Features include automated load station valves with one-touch operation, four-way dampening center rack, and boom recirculation system with air-assist clean-out.

GVM The T-Series Prowler offers some of the industry’s largest sprayer capacities, equipped with the 1,800-gallon stainless-steel product tank and built-in 100-gallon freshwater tank. Both units feature optional 120-foot aluminum fold-around booms on 20-inch or 20-/30-inch centers, Hypro wet-seal product pump, and a standard 15-section Altek air shut-off for precise product placement. The sprayer features Hypro Express Ends and a standard Raven ISO with seamless compatibility with any ISO controller. The Raven VSN Visual Guidance system ensures minimum crop damage, and the application is on target. The Prowler spray systems are rugged, built for durability, and allow operators to stay in the field longer between fill-ups.

John Deere See & Spray Ultimate is a factory-installed system available for model year 2024 John Deere 410R, 412R, 612R and 616R Sprayers that enables targeted spraying of non-residual herbicide on weeds among corn, soybean and cotton plants. See & Spray Ultimate’s targeted spray technology was designed by Blue river Technology, a wholly owned subsidiary of John Deere. Cameras and processors mounted on a carbon-fiber truss-tyle boom utilize the combined power of computer vision and machine learning to detect weeds from crop plants. The accuracy of the target spray is enhanced by BoomTrac Ultimate, the industry-leading boom-height control system from John Deere. While operating at up to 15 mph, See & Spray Ultimate helps farmers reduce their non-residual herbicide use and maintain a hit rate comparable to traditional spraying. For more information visit your local John Deere dealer or Deere.com.

Oxbo International Oxbo 7650/7550 sprayers have multiple options, including choice of 1,200 or 1,600 gallons, 90- to 120-foot Millennium booms, and walking beam chassis suspension. A direct-injection system is available, with up to four tanks, and a choice of Ag Leader, John Deere, or Raven precision. Full-time, four-wheel drive and all-wheel steer keep operators going in the muddiest conditions, says the company. The unit features the highest crop clearance in the industry (77 inches) and a Scania DC09 engine.

With the summer show season upon us (offering a break from applying, hopefully), sprayer manufacturers have a golden opportunity to showcase their latest technology to this special group of individuals in the ag retail community. Events like the Midwest AG Industries Exposition (MAGIE) and Farm Progress Show are popular destinations for custom applicators, where they can learn about innovations, such as the AirMax Precision R1/R2 pneumatic boom system with TurnLogic on the Fendt Rogator 900 Series or the See & Spray Ultimate system on John Deere sprayers.

We offer a sneak preview of some of the self-propelled sprayers you can expect to see (and don’t want to miss) at these two shows, and other industry events, in the photo slideshow above.
